Being a Z fighter always seemed to have its perks. You almost always had a reason to go off and train; and you’ve had more friends in the recent years than you had in your whole life. Adventure was always in the air, and even in the threatening presence of villains, you were never afraid of anything. Despite all of the action and adventure you’ve gone through, the calmness of life never seemed to bore you.

You grew up quite shy, and you’ve trained with Master Roshi since you were little. You never really went to a real school, but every martial artist knows that the mind is just as important as the body. When training with Master Roshi, you always made sure you did your written work just as much as the physical. You met Goku and Krillin when they arrived at Kame House, and continued to share your childhood with them. You learned martial arts, you studied, and you interacted with your companion students. Kame school was your whole childhood, and it definitely helped you realize how big the world really was.

Throughout your early life, you only had only three or so true friends. Bulma came and left, and she only spent her summer vacations with you. Krillin was another one of the Master’s students, but he focused more on Goku as a rival. Out of all the people you knew, Goku was the closest to you. When you were learning under Master Roshi, you went through some pretty vigorous training, increasing your strength, agility, skill, as well as respect and politeness towards others. When there were times of doubt or times of weakness, Goku was always there to help you stand and believe in yourself.

Even after the Master had nothing left to teach the three of you, some pretty amazing things went down in the years after. You entered the World Tournament (Goku always seemed to win, though), and you searched for the Dragon Balls. During your search, you had tried to come up with a wish to ask the dragon. But, you couldn’t. You already had everything you needed. You often had shelter, since you were pretty equipped for survival, and when you didn’t have simple shelter, you were visiting at Master Roshi’s place. You had food to eat, the entire world was rich with that, and, of course, you had Goku.

There was also that huge showdown with Piccolo, but you didn’t really get to witness most of it. If you were completely honest with yourself, (and you almost always were,) you had been very reckless and that caused you to get severely beaten when you tried to take on the monster by yourself.

Over the time that you continued to grow into teenagers and young adults, you soon began to realize that you had fallen in love with Goku. Goku had a certain charm to him that you’d never really be able to let go of. He was strong, kind, pure-hearted, and surprisingly, quite smart. (Contrary to what Bulma believed.) Goku was someone you had grown up with, and you knew that you would never let yourself live it down if some other woman were to take him away. You always thought that Goku didn’t return your feelings, since he always seemed quite oblivious to the Love Game, but that all changed during the last World Tournament you ever competed in.

It took place a few years ago, but you remembered it fondly. In your past years growing up, you never really made it past the semifinals of the tournament. Even though you never won, you were still happy that you participated. But, the year you and Goku turned 18, you at last made it to the finals. You never really wanted to win the tournament, since that usually meant fighting Goku. But, you were proud of yourself to make it that far. It meant you were getting better.

In the final round, you and Goku stood on opposite sides of the arena. You fought him evenly for a matter of five minutes, and you fell under from then on. Just as Goku was going to knock you off the edge of the arena, Goku stopped. Along with him, the crowd had gone silent in the confusion that fighting had stopped. You had fallen down, but Goku took your hand and helped you up, though you didn't really need it. He took you to the centre of the arena, a childish grin on his face.

“What’s this?!” The announcer’s voice rang through the stadium. “Goku is helping Y/N up! Is this even allowed?”

“What’s wrong, Goku?” You asked, certainly confused that he wouldn’t take that opportunity to win. You stood up properly, looking up at Goku. It only recently occurred to you of how tall he had become. “Why didn’t you just push me off?”

“‘Cause there’s something I need to tell you,” he said, his signature smile spreading across his face.

“Why can’t you wait until the fight is done?!” You exclaim, taking the opportunity to start up the fight again.

You swung a punch. Goku blocked it. Kick. Block. Punch. Block. Ki blast. Dodge. You never stood a chance in the first place against Goku. That you knew. You were just confused at the fact that Goku wanted to speak with you while you were being observed by hundreds of people. The crowd had never bothered you, up until this moment.

“Goku, what are you doing?! Please… just fight me. I worked hard to get to this round and I already know I can’t win. Why aren’t you doing anything?!” To be honest, you were on the verge of tears. It almost felt like Goku was trying to humiliate you in front of fans that had been coming to yours and Goku’s tournaments for years.

Goku only looked at you, his smile sort of fading. He turned his head to look at Master Roshi, who was sitting in the front row with Bulma and Krillin. You also turned your vision toward the old man, watching him nod at Goku. What was going on?

“Y/n,” Goku finally spoke, gently grabbing your hands. At this point, you were even more confused, but you didn’t pull your hands away. The crowd began to whisper behind you. Your heart started to pound, and a blush was slowly heating up your cheeks.

You could hear the announcer, but his voice was obscured, and you could only see Goku. Everything else around you was a complete blur.

“Since the moment I saw you, I knew that you were special. I learned so much from you, and have always found my chest aflutter when I was around you. I love your jokes, I love your cooking, I love the way you fight, and I love the way you tend to me when I’m hurt. You’re everything to me, and you’ve made me realize that there is more to life than fighting. I love you.” Goku looked over in Master Roshi’s direction again, and got down on one knee a few seconds later. He looked up at you, his cheesy smile making you giggle a little bit through the tears that were pricking at your eyes.

“Y/N, will you become my wife?” Goku asked, sincerity in his voice. It made you chuckle.

“I didn’t know that you knew what a wife was,” you say, grinning. “Yes, I will. I will, I will… I love you.”

~
“Hey, Y/N, you okay?” You hear Goku’s sweet voice ringing in your ears. Opening your eyes, you seemed to have fallen asleep. You were currently visiting Bulma’s place, but instead of having brunch, Goku insisted on training. So there you were in the yard, laying down on your husband’s back as he did one-armed pushups.

Bulma insisted on the both of you visiting more often, especially after you announced that you were pregnant. You weren’t very far along, and your bump wasn’t that big yet. Ever since you found out about a baby being on the way, Goku even made you stop sparring and doing any major training.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just remembering the World Tournament.” You say, your voice a little whispy from what seemed like a pretty long nap.

It was like you could feel Goku’s smile. “I can’t wait until we become a family,” you say, taking a long blink

“Me neither.”

You and Goku were so close that you didn’t need to constantly talk in order to enjoy yourselves. In the presence of Goku, you always felt at peace and comfortable. In the warmth of the summer’s day, you looked up at the clouds passing by. Eventually, the soft rocking of Goku’s pushups lulled you back into sleep.
This is a story I started maybe two years ago. My writer's block was really bad back then, so I decided to scrap it. When I went back into my Google Docs trash file for an old project I needed to re submit, I found this little piece. After reading the first part, I really felt like I could finish it. It's been my goal to get it done, and now... here it is! I hope you like it ^_^
